Request and answer document reviews
Ask teammates to review a document and mark it Ready or Not yet.
On this page
Named reviewers answer Ready or Not yet to say whether a document is ready. Use comments to explain and discuss the answers.
Prepare the document for review
You need editing permission to manage reviewers. Team members can edit documents in their team. Reviewers answer as themselves, not on behalf of another person.
- Open the document you want reviewed.
- Set its status to Open.
- Open Reviews.
- Choose Add reviewer and select a teammate.
Adding a reviewer requests their review. Repeat for each reviewer. You can select people from the document's team, not arbitrary email addresses.
Reviewers can be added only while the document is Open. Draft is for work still being prepared. Approved comes from the review workflow, not an independent status choice. To restart an Approved document's review, use Ask again.
Answer your review
Read the current document and its relevant discussion. Open the review control and choose Ready when the document is ready, or Not yet when it needs another pass.
Explain blockers in an anchored comment. A comment does not substitute for your Ready answer.
The review control summarizes the responses. Depending on the state, it can read Reviews, Ready, Not yet, or a count such as 1 of 2 ready. Open it to inspect the named reviewers and their individual answers.
Approve after the required answers
Approval requires at least one reviewer and every reviewer to be Ready. A waiting or Not yet response prevents approval.
If a human supplies the final Ready answer, the document becomes Approved automatically. If Livemark supplies the final Ready answer, the document remains Open until a human selects Approve.
After a substantial revision, ask for another round. A Not yet answer or a reopened review can return an Approved document to Open.
Removing a reviewer also changes which answers count. Removing the only holdout can approve an Open document when the remaining reviewers are Ready. Removing every reviewer reopens an Approved document. Check the resulting status whenever you change the reviewer list.
Ask for another round
After addressing the concerns, open the review control and choose Ask again. This works on Open and Approved documents. It starts another round, returns an Approved document to Open, and resets previous answers so reviewers can assess the revised document.
Archiving is independent of this process. Archiving and unarchiving preserve document status. Use review controls to reopen a decision, not archive controls.
Add Livemark as a reviewer
Choose Add reviewer and then Livemark when that option is available. Livemark reads the current document and discussion, leaves anchored concerns, and returns a readiness answer with a summary.
Its built-in review looks for consequential problems such as contradictions, unclear scope, missing acceptance criteria, or conflicts with recorded decisions. An applicable team specification-review skill can guide the procedure. See skills.
The AI reviewer does not edit the document and cannot approve it.
After revising the draft, use Livemark's Review again. It revisits its earlier concerns and can resolve threads it owns when the concern is addressed. It cannot resolve human threads merely because it thinks the conversation is finished.
If the row shows Review failed, read the explanation and choose Review again to retry. A previous answer displayed during a retry is not a completed new review.
Use suggestions to decide on individual replacements and versions to preserve a review milestone.
