Better Mobile Writing: A Full Draft, Not a Narrow Strip

Document panels now slide over the editor on small screens and dismiss when you return to the writing.

By ·

Document panels now open as a dismissible slide-over on mobile instead of forcing the editor into a desktop-style split. The draft keeps the space it needs for reading and writing; the panel gets its own space when you need the assistant or another document tool.

That makes a common small-screen workflow more practical: read a passage, open the relevant panel, deal with the question or discussion, then close the panel and return to the document. You no longer have to work in a narrow strip simply because a panel is open beside it.

The editor stays mounted while the panel opens and closes. It is not replaced with a separate mobile copy of the document. Mobile prose gutters also give the text room at the edges without carrying the desktop layout into a smaller viewport.

On desktop, the resizable split remains. This change is about choosing the right arrangement for the available screen, not removing the ability to keep the writing and a panel visible together where there is room.

Open a document on a small screen, open a panel, and dismiss it when you are ready to return to the draft.
